Easter Memorial Service raise funds for Night Shelter Service

01st Jul 2014

Aberystwyth Crematorium has donated £154.03 following their Easter Memorial Service to our Night Shelter Service. The service, led by Canon Andy Herrick of St Anne’s Church, was well attended by many families and friends who came together to remember their loved ones. During the service, family members were given the opportunity to light a candle in their memory of their loved ones.

The Crematorium Officer, Kirsty Griffiths for Aberystwyth Crematorium, said “Memorial services are held at the crematorium twice a year and are open to all families that have suffered a bereavement. It was lovely to see such a wonderful turn out of people, and we would like to take this opportunity to thank all families that attended the service, and for donating money to our chosen charity – the Night Shelter Service. We would also like to thank Canon Andy Herrick for conducting such a beautiful service”.

Our Night Shelter Service at The Care Society is dispersed throughout five units in Ceredigion; four in Aberystwyth and one in Cardigan. In addition to providing a warm bed and access to cooking and washing facilities for those who have found themselves being homeless, we also signposts clients to relevant support agencies with a view to addressing particular issues and exploring suitable move-on options.

Our Executive Director at The Care Society, Guy Evans expressed his gratitude, “I would like to thank Aberystwyth Crematorium and the families who attended and donated. Our aim at the Care Society is to try and help the most vulnerable people in our communities and this kind of support is extremely valuable and greatly appreciated.”
